I was checking my Facebook notifications last week when I ran across a posting that my cousin, Becky put up. It was a person strategically balancing groceries on every part of his body that he could possibly fit a bag on. He had at least 16-20 bags. His purpose: One trip to bring in the groceries. The caption read, “Mama didn’t raise no two-trip loser.” And so we move heavily like the car above, but lawd watch us go!
I laughed out loud when I saw it and thought, yep, that is me! Then today, I was in a hurry to make my lunch and had the bread, turkey, chips, drink, and cheese in my hand when I discovered that I had forgotten my napkin. I looked down at my hands, already packed, and was quickly reminded of her post on Facebook. I again laughed out loud, and then God dropped the question, “Trying to carry all your burdens?” It was a reminder to me to slow down. Then I thought of you all.
You are on my mind a lot. I know we laugh at ourselves trying to make one trip when we need to slow our pace another 15-30 seconds to make that extra trip. We all hustle and bustle around and rarely have time to take a slow breath, yet we must try. Then I was reminded of this verse, “Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?” (Isaiah 58:6, American Standard Version). It’s not God’s will that you should be crushed down with excessive burdens. He wants to free us from our burdens, and I want to encourage His way in our lives.
And that makes me curious about you, my readers, and what you might want to see and hear in the newsletters. Your time is valuable, and I want to make the most of your time here. Then another thought hit me. Ask them.
This place, Carol’s Corner, is a community I have created, not knowing who would join but welcoming everyone wanting to be a part of something. I wanted this space where connecting with others is a priority so we can surround ourselves with uniquely amazing human beings. Where we are learning to love people hard and where we can find encouragement for wherever and whatever situation we find ourselves in. My book has been a big part of the newsletter, but I wonder where we might go from here since it is completed.
So, would you do this one thing for me? Comment and tell me who you are and where you are from. And name a topic you would like to know more about or would like my point of view on. You may have a question about my book. Whatever it is, ask.
I have created a poll I would like you to complete. It will help me move forward regarding expanding my book to others. Selecting your answer and submitting it when done is easy. This lets me know what you may want in the coming weeks.
I look forward to hearing from you!
