This newsletter outlines my new writing, Destiny’s Flurry. I wanted to give you a peek at what you can expect from this book of narrative poetry.
If you let it, this book will change your life. But fair warning, it will require you to see people in a different way. Destiny’s Flurry is a story told through the language, rhythm, imagery, and structure of poetry. An epic narrative in poetry. Narrative poetry tells a story in verse poem. It is one of the oldest forms of literature. Pre-literature societies relied on oral communication to pass along stories and history.
Destiny’s Flurry gets to the heart of a story with little text. This creates an instant appeal for readers, including the reluctant ones. The mature reader will find layers of meaning in Destiny’s Flurry. In every subsequent reread, you spot something else. It is so much fun to read.
Destiny’s Flurry has white space on the pages that gives the reader room to breathe, pause, and think. Yet the rhythm captures you and carries you through the story. Somewhat like watching a snowflake fall which makes its debut perfect right now with Christmas right around the corner.
It is a story that transcends age barriers, connecting with everyone. It is about change and we all face changes in life. It speaks to the child, the teen, and the adult in all of us. Since I wrote it in verse with illustrations, it is shorter than most books, so I have included journal pages for the reader at the end so you can capture your own thoughts in ink.
